In Ireland, au pairs are usually paid according to the national minimum wage, based on an average of 30 working hours per week.
Host families provide free room and meals, and the cost of accommodation and food can be deducted from the minimum wage when calculating the final pocket money amount.
After these deductions, au pairs commonly receive around €150–€180 per week, bringing the average monthly cost for families to about €715. Some families may also offer additional support such as transport costs or language courses.
