Meet our au pair team

Hi! We are the au pair agency of Nina.care. What kind of au pairs do we select? We choose our au pairs very carefully. We only want reliable, sparkly people who really love and adore children.

  • Our au pairs are reliable, mature, and independent
  • Someone you would love to have around your family

We guide you and your au pair in every step throughout the au pair stay, so you don’t have to worry about a thing. We get in touch with our au pairs and make sure we have all the right documents, including the au pair contract, to ensure they are well prepared for the au pair program.

We screen our possible au pairs carefully and give advice when needed throughout the au pair program. Our au pair academy has great language courses to help your au pair get to know our culture.

We check in by sending a Whatsapp or call, and we’re always available for any questions you might have. We have matched more than 500 au pairs already, so we know what we’re talking about!

Questions of other parents

What sets Nina.care apart from other agencies or Aupairworld.com?
At Nina.care we care about quality and screening. We also value proper support while you embark on this adventure to open up to welcome a new person into your family.
  • We screen and select 1-3 au pair candidates for you ( saves time)
  • We are reachable if you run into a problem and need some advice
  • We train our au pairs as professionals, with childcare and first aid courses
  • We organise fun events and connect your au pair with others.
What is an au pair?

An au pair is between 18-25 years old and comes from another country to join in a rewarding cultural exchange program. They live at your house and help you take care of your kids and the household for 12 months or less.

You should see it as a cultural exchange and as a wonderful experience for your kids. Secondly, it’s a flexible and affordable way of daycare. The best of both worlds!

Is there insurance available for the au pair and host family?

Yes! During the cultural exchange, the au pair is required to have basic health insurance, but as an au pair you also automatically receive a health care allowance for this.

The host family can also take out the basic au pair insurance with which your family is insured against a possible rematch and illness in the first months.

What if the host family and the au pair don't click?

Thanks to our rigorous screening and experience in matching the perfect person to a family, it almost never happens that a host family and an au pair don’t click. When it does happen, we call it a “rematch”.

If it really doesn’t work, we will look for a new family for the au pair and a new au pair for the family. We advise you to take out our au pair insurance so that you, as a host family, do not pay the full service costs again for finding a new au pair that suits your family.

How long can an au pair stay?

The Dutch government allows an au pair to stay in the Netherlands for a maximum of one year. If you then want to invite another au pair to your family, we are happy to help you in your search for a sweet new au pair for the following year.

An au pair must come from abroad and have a residence permit . In addition, accommodation of the au pair in the home of the host family is also mandatory.

When do I have to pay the agency fee?

You pay after we’ve found you your perfect au pair.

Where do the Nina.care au pairs come from?

Our au pairs come from all over the world! The thing they have in common is that they LOVE kids and speak English so that communication isn’t going to be an issue! Most of the au pairs in the Netherlands are from the Philipines, South Africa, Kenya Uganda and Brazil but at Nina.care we welcome au pairs from all the countries!

Does the au pair help with the housekeeping?

Yes, the au pair can do light housework. They can help with vacuuming, emptying the dishwasher, putting in a wash and folding laundry – but no cleaning of the bathroom of cleaning windows for example.

What are the demands of the room the au pair is staying in?

It just needs to be a nice place to stay in! Officially the au pairs need to stay at the address of the host, but it can be in the garden house. As long as its on the same address!  The au pair should have a private room with a door, window, bed. But its not required to have their own bedroom they can share it with the family. Just make it a cosy place! the au pair is also allowed to sleep over at au pair friends or in a holiday house once in a while if you as host agree to that.

Can my au pair work beyond the 30 hours set by the program?

No, the regulations regarding this are strict that the au pair works no more than 30 hours a week. Luckily, our host families get a babysitting membership with us for free so you can arrange childcare help for any extra hours or while you wait for your au pair to arrive.

What does the au pair team at Nina.care do exactly?

We love to send profiles of matching candidates to you and can assist with making your au pair contract, the extensive screening of your au pair, visa application, and support during the au pair year.

After your au pair arrives we organise events such as visits to cities and cool courses for your au pair. We check in with you and you au pair to make sure you have the best experience. We are on stand by if you ever need some mediation or guiding.

What you can expect from us

Screening

We take our screening very seriously. We follow all au pair requirements including asking for a background check, legalized birth certificate, and a medical examination, and we ask each potential au pair everything about their home situation, experience with children, ambitions, and everything necessary to really get to know them. That way, we can guarantee the best match for your family.

Laws & regulation

We are a recognized sponsor, which means that our au pair agency must ensure that all administration is in order and that the au pair laws and regulations set by the government are complied with. That is a major task because the regulations are complex. In addition, we draw up the necessary contracts, check the documents supplied, pay out monthly pocket money, and support the au pair application.

Support for au pairs and host families

Once your au pair has arrived, we ensure all au pair arrangements are made and help in applying for health insurance, setting up bank accounts, and getting settled in their new communities. We also offer regular evaluation points throughout the au pair stay to identify room for improvement and ensure everyone is happy during the year.

We are Jasmijn and Lyla Kok, founders of Nina.care. Nice to meet you! Our goal is to find the perfect match between families and their au pair or nanny.
